Removing Toxins from the Home – Toiletries and Beauty Products!

Toxin Free Home Tips

Our daily toiletries, beauty products, soaps, toothpastes…have hidden toxins too.  Reading labels and knowing the chemicals to avoid, buying things that are fragrance free, and double checking products against the EWG database and the Think Dirty app is necessary to keep toxic products out of our cabinets.

You are the ultimate decision maker of what you are going to allow into your home and on/into your body.  Young Living makes some amazing products that are safe, effective, and best of all…free of all the chemicals we now know to avoid.

Thieves hand soap

The Thieves oral care line up is awesome!  There is Thieves toothpaste, mouthwash, and dental floss.  The line is free from fluoride, triclosan, SLS, sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol, synthetics, dyes, and GMOs.

Do a little more research and google the dangers of fluoride and triclosan. I recently learned from a training session in our group that triclosan is no longer allowed by law in antibacterial hand soaps, but it is still allowed in toothpaste! What? Total craziness, right? 😜  If you haven’t tried these Thieves products, put them on your must-have list.

Skincare and personal care products are available from Young Living.  There is a KidScents Line of lotions, shampoos, and conditions.  They have safe deodorants, shower gels, shave oils and creams, and the ART Skincare line.

Young Living Personal Care Products

So many safe and toxin-free choices for you and your family!  If you get on Essential Rewards, part of your order will be credited back in points to use toward products.  The program also entitles you to free monthly oils based on the promotion and discounted shipping rates.  Learn more about this program here!

Removing Toxins from the Home – Scented Candles and Air Fresheners!

Toxin Free Home Tips

Next up…lets talk about scented candles and air fresheners a bit.  Yep, we have to go here.  So you can probably put this together from my post on fabric softeners and laundry soap, but yes, the synthetic fragrance in these products makes them toxic.  These products are another source of hidden toxins in the home.  Here is what is going on in them…

Diffusing Essential Oils

No worries.  So instead, you just DIFFUSE your essential oils!  ❤️♨️

Diffusing essential oils

I promise, you will not miss these synthetic fragrances at all.  There are some essential oils blends that, in my opinion, smell so good there is no way a synthetic fragrance could be better.  Once you start using your diffuser and all the essential oil choices, this will be another super easy change you make to support your health.

Combining a citrus oil with other oils is always good.  Here are some of my favorite diffuser blends right now…

  • Awaken + Pine
  • Orange + Stress Away
  • Bergamot + Orange + Stress Away
  • Thieves + Lemon
  • Grapefruit + Idaho Balsam Fir + Citrus Fresh
  • Rosemary + Lavender + Cedarwood + Lemongrass
  • Lemon + Lavender + Peppermint

Ready to start making your home toxin-free with the ease of Young Living?  We would love to have you join us!! ❤️ You get an essential oil diffuser of your choice in the Premium Starter Kit.   Learn more here.

Toxin Free Home Tips

If you missed my post on making the switch to safe cleaning products, click here!  This is an equally important next step…looking into our laundry detergent and fabric softeners.  Our intentions in doing laundry is to get our clothes clean and not add a chemical film to them.  Our clothes lay on our skin and our children’s skin…ALL day long.  The fragrance of laundry detergent and fabric softeners are just toxic chemicals, that are being absorbed into our bodies.  This graphic list some of the biggest offenders in these products…

Young Living’s Thieves line also has a laundry soap and it’s just as awesome as you might think it to be.  It cleans your clothes gently with the Thieves blend, Jade Lemon, and Bergamot essential oils.

Wool Dryer Balls!!  These are a great alternative to fabric softeners.  They can also decrease the drying time and help with static.  Use a few drops of essential oils on your dryer balls and know that your clothes are clean, fresh, and toxin-free.  Some of my favorite oils to put on the wool dryer balls are Lavender, Lemon, Citrus Fresh, Purification, and Bergamot but anything you like and choose is great.  Once you know that the strong smell coming off your clothes from fabric softener are harsh chemicals, you won’t miss this product at all.

Toxin Free Fabric Softener

The wool dryer balls last a long time too.  I usually put 3 dryer balls in my dryer with each load.  They can be purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond (I love their coupons) and even Amazon.

Just like in our household cleaning products, the words like clean, safe, all natural, and green do not always mean toxin-free.  Using the Environmental Working Groups website, www.ewg.org or the Think Dirty app database to see where products rank on safety is always the way to go.

Making laundry toxin-free is another step in supporting your family’s health and wellness!! 💚🌿
